It costs $25.99, and there is a free trial edition limited to 2,000 polygons. VDB Splicer is available for 64-bit Lightwave 11.6.3 and above. The software is Deep FX’s second commercial app, following the release earlier this year of Deep Rising FX, its particle-based fluid simulator for LightWave. Use cases suggested by Deep FX include remeshing scanned objects to uniform quads or triangles, and creating LoD objects for export to game engines, or for use as proxies in animations or simulations. The software is built on top of the OpenVDB library, supported in a wide range of other DCC tools – including the increasingly long-awaited next version of LightWave itself.Īs well as being a way to create unusual effects – we can imagine cutting text out of a simulated cloud for a title sequence, for example – the tool has more down-to-earth uses. Compatibility with macOS Catalina 10.15: All of 3rd party plugins need to be notarized by apple, to run by default since macOS Catalina 10.15. Earlier Mac UB versions compiled by Michael Wolf. Compatibility with LightWave 2020: We have released updates for all our products, which provide compatibility with LightWave 2020 by adding support for the changes. VDB Splicer lets users perform standard Boolean modeling operations like Union, Difference and Intersection on volumetric objects within LightWave’s Layout, and remesh the results. DP Filter Node Editors plugins LightWave 3D 9.6 -> 2019 All plugins below coded by Denis Pontonnier. Perform Boolean operations on volumetrics and remesh the results The only minor airbrushing is applied to the hair and feathers, and a couple small composite mask bleeds around the rock.Tools developer Deep FX has released VDB Splicer, an interesting new LightWave plugin that enables users to perform Boolean operations on volumetrics. Final renders we created in Maya Mental Ray and composites in Photoshop. All of the following free plug-ins are included on the companion CD. Textures were started in Photoshop and finished in Zbrush and Cinema 4D Body Paint and are all hand painted. Any LightWave 2015 user can download them for free. Relativity has many advantages over LightWave expressions, including greater. The models were started in Maya and finished in Zbrush. The LightWave Assets / Plugins database maintains a list of free and commercial third-party plugins available for LightWave. I decided I finally wanted to wrap up this project so I spent a week wrapping it up and putting together renders for this composite. It took me down some rabbit holes between not having a strong enough computer to complete the sculpt at one point, obsessing over color detail from all angles thinking about maybe a 3D print or animated poster which lead to wanting to attempt a real hair sim (which ended up being a deep deep rabbit hole, but I settled on a sculpt with a little paint over in the final image here). It’s always been my experimental piece so a lot of the stuff on here I hadn’t tried before at the time. Ihave no idea how long I ever actually spent on it but probably way too long. I started this project a long long time ago and have worked on it on and off. I wanted this image to fall somewhere between surreal and realistic much like the character and comic do, so hopefully it achieves this. The Maxx is a very abstract character that changes form quite a bit from image to image, but this my culmination of the character existing in the Outback of Pangaea.
